Help To Save Victoria’s Critically Endangered Faunal Emblem

Friends of Leadbeater’s Possum Inc is a group of volunteers who initially came together on National Threatened Species Day 7th September 2004 to give a voice to these amazing but elusive forest animals. Leadbeater’s Possum’s population and habitat is suffering from ongoing clearfell logging (including salvage logging), bushfire destruction in 2009 and bushfire prevention methods like fuel breaks and fuel reduction burning.

We are actively working towards achieving the proposed Great Forest National Park to provide security to Leadbeater’s Possum populations into the future.

Together we hope to be able to help Leadbeater’s survive in the wild by developing public awareness, conservation efforts, research programs and effective conservation strategies and policies.

Please help to secure a safe future for Victoria’s endemic Leadbeater’s Possum.

Help them to live in peace and to survive

Leadbeater’s Possum (Gymnobelideus leadbeateri) is a critically endangered, cute possum largely restricted to small pockets of Mountain Ash, Alpine Ash and Snow Gum forests in the Central Highlands of Victoria, north-east of Melbourne. It only lives in Victoria (endemic) and is our state’s animal emblem. There are estimated to be around 1,500 remaining. We can all help save the Leadbeater’s Possum by protecting the forests and/or joining Friends of Leadbeater’s Possum
